Garrett Strommen

Art runs in the family. Garrett's mother, Genell Miller, is a professional painter and art professor. His father, Kim Strommen, is an artist whose work has been shown at the Saint Louis Art Museum, among other venues, and who led Temple University Rome as its dean for more than two decades. He still makes art today. Trained at St. Stephen's in Rome, Garrett creates original acrylic paintings and sculptures — pop art, mixed media, deep-framed canvas.

When not building Strømmen or on set: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, hiking Griffith Park, painting, and building models.

Inspired by the origami Christmas tree at the American Museum of Natural History, Garrett folded paper nonstop when he was twelve. The patience and precision of the practice still show up in his art today.
